The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport decided to launch a special investigation, claiming that Eastar Jet hid capital erosion in the process of changing its license.

What the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport designated as false is the accounting data submitted by Eastar Jet when it applied for a license to change the international air transportation business in December last year.
Eastar Jet provided data that the total capital at the time was 236.1 billion won, indicating that it was not in a state of capital erosion.
However, according to the 2021 audit report uploaded to the Financial Supervisory Service’s electronic disclosure system in May, the total capital stood at -0.22 billion won, which is in a state of complete capital erosion.
Article 8 of the Aviation Business Act stipulates that in order to obtain an air transport business license, it is necessary to have the financial ability to conduct the relevant business, which also applies when applying for a change license.
Article 28 states that the license may be revoked if the license is obtained or registered by fraudulent or fraudulent means.

Eastar Jet said that it had no choice but to submit the May 2020 input data, which was the latest data at the time, because the accounting system was closed because it could not pay the maintenance fee from June 2020.
In the process of restoring the accounting system in February and conducting the audit, there was an unexpected loss, such as aircraft rental costs, which resulted in a difference from the previous figures.
