Due to the prolonged Corona 19 crisis, the ‘drinking culture’ has rapidly weakened, but alcohol imports have risen sharply.
This is because wine imports have exploded, and wine has overtaken beer to become the king of alcoholic beverages thanks to the reflection of the sharp decline in drinking parties.

Self-employed people who run pubs and restaurants are weeping as the reinforcement of social distancing is not being lifted.
It is now a thing of the past that it was natural to hold the 1st party and then to the 2nd party.
Because the drinking party itself has greatly decreased.
However, for some reason, the amount of alcohol imports increased significantly.
Last year, imports increased by 8.2% year-on-year to $1.1 billion, the highest ever.
From January to July of this year, imports also increased by 26.2% compared to the same period of the previous year to $800 million, which is sure to hit a new high.
The biggest reason that alcohol imports recorded an all-time high is because wine imports have surged as the so-called ‘home-cooked, home-drinking’ culture has spread.

Last year, wine imports amounted to $330 million, up 27.3% from the previous year, reaching an all-time high of 54 million liters in import volume and 73 million bottles in wine bottles.
In particular, imports until July of this year doubled from the same period of the previous year to $325 million, which is already similar to last year’s annual imports.
On the other hand, beer imports amounted to about $230 million, down 19.2% from the previous year, giving up the top spot for imported alcoholic beverages to wine.
It was analyzed that imports of beer decreased as imports from Japan decreased and domestic craft beer became popular.
Wine overtook beer to become the world’s largest alcoholic beverage importer
It is expected that the throne will be prolonged as it has established itself as a wine culture thanks to the repercussions of the corona crisis.
