The hospital only offered explanations that dismissed it as a personal problem, but as the wave grew, it belatedly requested a police investigation.

This is a text message sent to YTN reporters by an official from Eulji Hospital in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do.
When the coverage of a 24-year-old nurse A, who made an extreme choice while complaining about bullying in the hospital, the so-called ‘burn’ damage and work stress, began to explain, the hospital started to explain.
The hospital said first that nurses have a high turnover rate, and that they can work at other hospitals after resigning at any time.
He then asks, “Would it not have been easier if I resigned and changed jobs, even if I assumed that there was Hana-Wum?”
There are other options, and it is regrettable that I made an extreme choice, but I have doubts.

The hospital later denied that the remark was a personal opinion and not an official position.
However, the hospital also hurt the bereaved family by explaining their evasion of responsibility.
A hospital official who visited the bereaved family continued to remark as if blaming the boyfriend who was on a video call at the time of Mr. A’s death.

The hospital repeated the explanation to the reporters to the effect that Mr. A seemed to have made an extreme choice over the boyfriend issue.
[병원 관계자 : (남자친구랑) 통화 과정에서 뭔가 좀 심적인 자극을 줄 뭔가가 있지 않았을까 그런 게 조금 의혹이 드는 거죠.]
A’s colleagues refuted this explanation and mentioned that the hospital was on the verge of accreditation evaluation of a tertiary general hospital.
From the hospital’s point of view, they are trying to dismiss it as a nurse’s individual problem because they desperately need to pass the accreditation evaluation to expand the number of residents or doctors.
He said that he desperately prevented the outflow of manpower because there were many places that needed to be taken care of to prepare for the certification evaluation.

After the YTN report, the hospital started an investigation into the death of A again, and requested the police to investigate.
