According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, on this day, hot and humid air will flow into Gwangju and Jeollanam-do along with strong south winds in the lower atmosphere (about 1.5 km altitude), resulting in very strong rains of 30 mm or more per hour in some areas.
In addition, the wind will blow strongly at 35-60 km/h (10-16 m/s) and an instantaneous wind speed of 70 km/h (20 m/s) or more around the coast.
The highest daytime temperatures will be recorded at 28 degrees in Gwangju, Naju, Jangseong, and Damyang, 27 degrees in Hwasun, Yeonggwang, Hampyeong, and Yeongam, 26 degrees in Mokpo, Muan, Jindo and Shinan, 25 degrees in Suncheon, 24 degrees in Gwangyang, and 23 degrees in Yeosu.
The lowest temperature in the morning was predicted to be 20-21 degrees Celsius in all areas of Gwangju and Jeollanam-do.
The sea wave will rise at a level of 0.5 to 2.5 m off the west and south seas.
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration said, “There are places where the water suddenly rises in rivers and valleys, so please be extra careful about safety accidents by refraining from camping or outdoor activities such as not approaching dangerous areas.”
