[전국]Real-time monitoring of water supply throughout the country and quick support in the event of an accident

[앵커]

Since water supply facilities are managed by each local government, there were many cases where water quality-related accidents could not be dealt with professionally.

In the future, the water authorities decided to check the operation information of local governments across the country in real time, and provide appropriate response methods and necessary technology support.

In 2019, a red tap water incident occurred in Incheon.

When the water purification plant is checked, the flow of water in the water pipe is rapidly changed, and the water scale accumulated in the pipe is mixed.

Insufficient initial response also increased the damage, resulting in more than 42,000 water quality complaints.

Since then, the Ministry of Environment has established water supply support centers in the basins of the four rivers.

To help municipalities manage their water supply and support incident response.

And this time, a comprehensive situation room was established to control these four watershed waterworks support centers.

This is the General Situation Room of the Watershed Waterworks Support Center.

When the establishment of the information network is completed by next month, you can monitor waterworks operation information of 160 local governments nationwide in real time.

From water intake to supply, it plays a role in finding pipelines with problems in water quality or quantity and delivering necessary countermeasures and technologies to the local government.

In addition, when relevant information is accumulated, the government plans to suggest preventive measures so that local governments can safely supply tap water by detecting signs of an accident or anomaly in advance.

The Ministry of Environment and Korea Water Resources Corporation predicted that quick decision-making and systematic response to reduce water accident damage would be possible, leading to more sophisticated tap water management than in the past.
