At least nine people have been killed when a restaurant in Chongqing, a metropolis in southwestern China, collapsed in an accident believed to be a gas explosion.
According to Chinese media, yesterday (7th) at around 12:10 pm local time, the office restaurant on Fengshan Road in Wulong District, Chongqing City collapsed with an explosion, killing about 20 people on the rubble of the building.
Yang Guang Network, the Internet version of the Chinese Central People’s Radio Broadcasting Service, said that as of 9:30 p.m., rescue teams had lifted 20 people from the rubble, but nine of them had died and 11 were receiving treatment.
The cause of the accident is believed to be an explosion caused by a gas leak, the media reported.
