[국제]Orion, an unmanned lunar orbiter, returns to Earth on the 11th

The unmanned spacecraft Orion, which was put into the lunar exploration mission of Artemis 1, began its return flight to Earth.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced that Orion, which flew close to the lunar orbit on the 5th local time, was on a journey back to Earth.

Orion passed the lunar landing sites of Apollo 12 and 14 in turn in the past, flew close to the sky within 130 km of the lunar surface, and then returned to the lunar surface and accelerated toward Earth.

Orion’s scheduled return to Earth is the morning of the 11th.

Orion will enter the atmosphere at more than 30 times the speed of sound and then open its parachute and drop into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego, California.

Orion’s flight is the first mission of the Artemis program aimed at returning humanity to the moon.

This time, NASA produced a mannequin resembling an astronaut, put it on Orion, and inspected the spacecraft and equipment for future manned flights.

NASA will launch a manned lunar orbit (Artemis 2) in 2024, and the Artemis 3 mission, which will land humanity’s first woman and astronauts of color on the south pole of the moon in 2025 or 2026.
