Access is blocked for safety reasons, and excavators are being mobilized to perform repair work.
It was around 8:00 am today that the heat pipes around the apartment complex in Sanggye-dong, Seoul were damaged.
In the cold wave of minus 7 degrees, there is a disruption in the heating supply to 18,600 nearby households.
The damaged heat pipe was completed in 1996 and was found to be 450 mm thick.
Seoul Energy Corporation is carrying out the work of excavating the damaged pipe area by mobilizing excavators.
In addition, we are checking exactly where the damaged part is, and we are figuring out the exact cause of the damage.
Nearby residents said that the scale was large enough to presume a fire when the first steam was witnessed.

The Seoul Nowon-gu Office, the local government in charge, announced that it had sent a disaster text message to nearby residents, saying that heat supply would be cut off by around 8 pm.
