North Korea, which has breathlessly raised the level of provocations since the launch of the Yoon Seok-yeol government, is in an atmosphere that has recently entered a breather.
It appears to be an intention to focus on ‘internal care’ ahead of the Labor Party’s plenary meeting to organize the year’s achievements.

On the 18th of last month, North Korea fired a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) Hwasong-17, raising tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
However, there has been no armed demonstration for more than two weeks since then.
The possibility of additional provocations was raised around the 29th of last month, which corresponds to the 5th anniversary of North Korea’s declaration of completion of nuclear force, but contrary to concerns, it passed quietly.

Instead, North Korea is focusing on raising the mood for the Labor Party plenary meeting to be held at the end of this month.
We emphasize every day that the most important business is the ‘economy’, and we are concentrating our efforts on betting on last-minute results.
It is mobilizing party newspapers to discuss major economic sectors one by one and urging policy tasks to be carried out.
It is interpreted as a move conscious of the plenary meeting to settle this year’s business and present major state administration directions for next year.

As North Korea shows its focus on internal affairs, the observation that it is unlikely to conduct high-intensity provocations such as the 7th nuclear test within this year is gaining momentum.
However, since the basic tone of the South Korean strategy itself has not changed, such as recent criticism of the Korean government by Kim Yeo-jeong, Vice Minister of the Workers’ Party, it is not easy to interpret that it is just speed control.
