Jo Joo-bin, a doctoral room operator who produced and distributed sexual exploitation videos of minors, was sentenced to 42 years in prison.
Nth room operator ‘God God’ Hyung-wook Moon, sentenced to 34 years in prison.
The case of sexual exploitation of Telegram that shook up Korean society two years ago came to an end as the heavy sentences of these operators were confirmed.
But what punishment did the traders who bought and distributed sexual exploitation videos receive?
Our MBC court reporters have looked at the judgments of about 340 people who have been sentenced in the first instance so far one by one.
As a result, all probation or fines.
It has been confirmed that no one has ever been to jail.

After seeing a Twitter ad that said ‘Selling sexual exploitation of children and adolescents’, I gave out a cultural gift certificate worth 100,000 won.
The court sentenced the purchaser of the sexual exploitation product to a fine of 8 million won.
Another buyer who saw an advertisement on SNS and remitted 350,000 won to buy 50 sexual exploits.
The punishment in the first instance court was a fine of 5 million won.

The judgments of the direct participants of ‘Doctor’s Room’ and ‘Nth Room’, or those who bought or received the exploitation of children and adolescents that were spread through Telegram, were selected.
When those who received heavier punishments for other crimes, such as molestation and illegal filming, were excluded, there were 340 possessors of sexual exploitation purchases.
Of the 340 people, 271 were on probation, or 80% of the total.
Fines amounted to 62 persons, 18%, and the sentence was postponed for 7 persons because the quality of the crime was weak.
Not one in 340 went to jail.

“The judges have no choice but to line up according to the degree of crime, the degree of participation, and the quality of the crime, and because of the relative difference between them and the main perpetrators such as Jo Joo-bin, they cannot even be sentenced to imprisonment.”
If you know that it is child and adolescent sexual exploitation, you will be severely punished just for having it.
The level of punishment has recently been strengthened.
Nevertheless, the court delayed the execution or fined all 340 people in advance.
We looked at the reasons for taking good care.
Each judge gave various reasons, but the most cited was 311 cases of ‘the first offender or no previous criminal record’.
Also, there were 293 cases of ‘I am reflecting’.
In other words, most judges lowered the level of punishment for these two reasons.
There were also 33 cases and 1 in 10 cases where they were judged to be young.
