China News Agency, Manila, July 29. The Philippine Department of Health (DHO) reported on the 29th that the country’s first case of monkeypox was confirmed, and 10 close contacts were required to quarantine for 14 to 21 days.

The 31-year-old patient, a Filipino citizen who returned to the Philippines from abroad on July 19, had traveled to a country where monkeypox cases had occurred and died on July 7, Deputy Health Minister Dr. Beverly Ho said at a press conference. Tested positive on May 28.

He Jiaer said: “The case has been successfully discharged from the hospital and is undergoing strict isolation and monitoring at home. So far, the authorities have identified 10 close contacts, three of whom belong to the same family and are asymptomatic.”
