Violette Granier will climb the steps this Thursday, May 25. This 15-year-old teenager, resident of Valencia, participated in the film competition for young people Engine!. For this seventh edition, she made a short film of one and a half minutes on “an inspiring person“. Violette shares a very personal and touching story with her aunt, which led to her being selected among 500 applications from all over France.
The competition jury, chaired by Oxmo Puccino, named 24 winners. They will walk the red carpet of the 76th Cannes Film Festival this Thursday evening and will participate in a ceremony dedicated to them: the Claps d’Or Moteur!
“I can say it, she saved me”
In a one and a half minute video, using small drawings, Violette stages a traumatic event from her childhood. At nursery age, Violette suffered from school anxiety. “There referent, a dry and surly former soldier, led the children like a battalion. I was so terrified that a vicious cycle started. Every day, when I arrived at the crèche, I was vomiting. I couldn’t bear to go there anymore.”
Violet and her aunt
This little girl full of life is slowly dying. Until his aunt Stéphanie abandons her life in Lyon, settles in the Drôme and supports her on a daily basis. Today, it is Violette who supports her “tata Steph” in her fight against cancer. The rise of the steps will be one more tribute to Stéphanie, whom Violette refers to as “the one who saved me“.
