In Italy, 16 people are now infected with the corona virus. The government has taken extensive measures.
3 days curfew
Public facilities, bars, shops – everything will remain closed until the end of the weekend. Schools remain closed for up to a week in the affected areas. 42 regional league football games were also canceled.
In addition to the infected, 250 people who were in direct contact with them were placed in strict quarantine. Italy’s Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte asked thousands more to go outside as little as possible to keep the risk of infection as low as possible.
The citizens of Castiglione d’Adda (4,600 inhabitants), Codogno (16,000 inhabitants) and Casalpusterlengo (15,200 inhabitants) should “avoid social contacts” and stay at home. Anyone who develops flu symptoms should not go to the hospital, but should call the health emergency number.
Five in “critical condition”
Five of the 16 infected were in “critical condition” on Friday evening. The worst case is a 38-year-old man who is in intensive care. He is said to have infected his pregnant wife and four other people before he was admitted. The man had met a friend earlier in the month who had returned from China.
Five hospital nurses are also among the infected. In Veneto two elderly people were infected, and one of these two is also doing very badly, according to the Italian media.
