16 teams for the 2025 Women’s World Cup – Fil Info

The 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup will again have 16 participants, against 12 previously, World Rugby announced on Monday for whom “it is a way to accelerate the development of women’s rugby in the world.” The 1998 and 2002 editions counted already 16 nations qualified, before World Rugby returned to a more restricted format in 2006. “Women’s rugby has experienced record growth in recent years, with women and girls now accounting for 28% of the total number of players in the world” , rejoices World Rugby, for whom the enlargement of the world field should help “to increase the competitiveness of international women’s rugby, by offering the possibility to more teams to be more competitive at the biggest events”. In May 2022, the international federation must choose the host countries for the 2025 and 2029 editions. The 2021 edition will be held from September 18 to October 16 in New Zealand, the nation holding the title and crowned 5 times out of the first 8 editions.
