Mogadishu – At least 17 people were killed in a suicide attack on a hotel in central Somali capital Mogadishu. According to witnesses, an assassin in a car blew himself up in front of the entrance to the Hotel Afrik on Sunday. The Al-Shabaab jihadist group claimed responsibility for the bloody act. The fundamentalists have been fighting for hegemony in the poor country in the Horn of Africa for years and control large parts of the south and the center.
