20 years locked up by her mother: they find a woman chained and severely malnourished in Brazil | International

A woman remains hospitalized for severe malnutrition after being found chained and locked in a house where she lived with her mother in Brazil. Antecedents of the fact detail that the victim was in that condition for 20 years. Her mom was arrested by the police.

A woman was found severely malnourished, her arms tied and feet chained, in an “improvised cell” in Viana, a territory located in the State of Maranhão, Brazil. According to the investigation, her own mother kept her locked up.

This is Rosinalva Borges da Silva, who was deprived of liberty by her mother for 20 yearsaccording to the Brazilian media G1.

The victim is 39 years old and it was thanks to a police operation, that on Thursday, February 9, he regained his freedom. However, her state of health remains serious. In the first instance, she was transferred to the hospital of the Viana municipal network and then to the Regional Hospital. There she remains hospitalized with a diagnosis of severe malnutrition.

Rosinalva was not only dehydrated, but also without food in her “prison”.

Woman locked up by her mother in Brazil

According to police chief Carlos Alberto Braga Diniz Neto, when they found her, the woman had her feet chained and her arms tied. In addition, her living conditions were unsanitary.

To the above, add that the victim’s mother showed “visible signs of drunkenness”.

But, what motivated the confinement? According to police records, Rosinalva’s mother would have chained her because her daughter would have become an aggressive person. The woman would have begun to manifest psychological disorders after the loss of two children in her youth.

Even so, G1 states, the “only way out” the mother found was to chain her daughter. After releasing the victim, her mother was detained by the police.
