With Week 8 ready to get underway, we are nearing the halfway point of the 2023 NFL season. That means we are one step closer to finding out which teams will have the first few picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Heading into Week 7, the Chicago Bears owned the first two picks, while four other teams were keeping things close as they had only won one game. But in Week 7, the Bears, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and New England Patriots all came out victorious. Meanwhile, the 2-4 Minnesota Vikings defeated the 5-1 San Francisco 49ers and kept their season alive.

While the victories will have those teams dreaming of the playoffs, it also distances them from the first overall pick in next year’s draft.

The Current 2024 NFL Draft Order

Chicago Bears (via CAR): 0-6 record, .518 strength of scheduleArizona Cardinals: 1-6 record, .571 strength of scheduleChicago Bears: 2-5 record, .451 strength of scheduleDenver Broncos: 2-5 record, .513 strength of scheduleNew York Giants: 2-5 record, .535 strength of scheduleNew England Patriots: 2-5 record, .544 strength of scheduleGreen Bay Packers: 2-4 record, .452 strength of scheduleLos Angeles Chargers: 2-4 record, .513 strength of scheduleTennessee Titans: 2-4 record, .536 strength of scheduleNew Orleans Saints: 3-4 record, .411 strength of schedule

The Bears are still in a great spot. The Panthers are coming off of their bye week but have a tough schedule the rest of the way. The Cardinals were competitive through the first few weeks of the season but have begun to really fade, although getting Kyler Murray back from injury could give them a spark that leads to some wins.

The Titans come out of their bye week with Ryan Tannehill injured, Kevin Byard traded away and Derrick Henry possibly on his way out. They could be a real threat to enter the top few picks, though the teams “in front” of them are still starved for talent on their roster.
