Ahmad Dhani together with the All Indonesian Composers Association or AKSI, explained the royalty income at LMK Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI) for 2023.
WAMI’s royalty income throughout 2023 will reach IDR 900 million for live events. This was conveyed by Ahmad Dhani at a press conference in the Gatot Subroto area, South Jakarta, Monday (22/1/2024).
“We got a report from WAMI in 2023, live event royalties from all concerts from singers’ songs that used the composer’s songs. We got a report of 900 million in one year,” explained Ahmad Dhani.
From the results of the report, Ahmad Dhani then compared it with Judika’s show fee which he planned to contract for IDR 1.5 billion.
He suspects that there have been thieves among the royalty administrators all this time. Because for him the amount of Rp. 900 million in one year doesn’t make sense.
“Even though I just wanted to contract Judika for a solo show, the price was Rp. 1.5 billion. So this is just an illusion. Judika’s solo show is Rp. 1.5 billion per show, this is WAMI’s report of Rp. 900 million rupiah for all composers for a year of concerts throughout Indonesia ,” he continued firmly.
“So, there must be thieves here. There must be thieves here, I suspect, but there are definitely thieves here,” he continued.
In this regard, Ahmad Dhani also feels that LMK and LMKN are too dodgy regarding live event royalties.
“What I mean is, if LMKN and LMK can’t take care of what’s called live event royalties, that’s it, don’t worry too much, you really can’t take care of this,” stressed Ahmad Dhani.
