2025 MVC All-Conference women’s Tennis Team Announced
Murray State’s Jorge Caetano named Coach of the year after leading Racers too back-to-back undefeated seasons.
ST.LOUIS — The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) has announced its 2025 All-Conference Women’s Tennis Team, recognizing the top performers from across the conference. The selections,resolute by a vote of league coaches,include Frist and Second Teams for each of the six singles positions and one doubles team from each of the three positions.
The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Flames and the Murray State Racers dominated the awards, with multiple players earning recognition. Murray State’s coach, Jorge Caetano, was named Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year after leading the Racers to an undefeated conference season.

Ushio Claims Player of the Year
UIC’s Mayu Ushio earned the prestigious MVC Player of the Year honors. Ushio’s stellar performance this season included claiming the No. 1 singles title and No. 1 doubles title at the MVC Individual Championship in the fall. Her remarkable record speaks for itself: “Ushio’s is currently 12-2 overall and 6-0 in MVC singles play,” according to conference officials.
Ushio’s success reflects a growing trend of international players making a significant impact on U.S. college tennis. According to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), approximately 60% of Division I tennis players are international students, bringing diverse skills and experiences to the courts.
