This Monday, an airplane with 25 tons of medicines and supplies from the People’s Republic of China arrived at the Maiquetía Simón Bolívar International Airport, in La Guaira, to reinforce the protection of the Venezuelan people, informed the Minister of Popular Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado.
“With this shipment we are arriving at 420 tons from China alone, and that is why it is important to emphasize that Venezuela, in order to bypass the blockade and be able to acquire supplies, resorts to these bilateral mechanisms,” said Alvarado.
This new shipment arrived with materials to repair respirators, injectors, drugs and other equipment destined for the national health system. In addition, the minister explained that these supplies will be sent to those states with the highest number of COVID-19 cases, such as the Western, Los Andes and Los Llanos regions.
Pandemic in Venezuela
In another context, Minister Alvarado stressed that the country still registers a high plateau of more than a thousand cases a day, which has remained stable over time with a slight downward trend in the central zone.
Likewise, he urged the Venezuelan people to continue to comply with physical distancing, hand washing and the use of masks.
It is worth noting that, since the pandemic began, Venezuela and China agreed on an air bridge that has allowed the purchase of supplies and medicines to meet the contingency and protect the health of all Venezuelans.
