The most overpriced Kaufland product ever? A supermarket customer is surprised that 250 grams of aspic are priced at just under 32 euros on the shelf.
Munich – Yes, many Groceries are becoming significantly more expensive at the moment. And it is also theoretically possible to refine a simple food with bonuses to a luxury product – see Franck Ribéry’s Gold Steak. But is it really possible that 250 grams of jelly at Kaufland suddenly cost 31.96 euros? Even if there are tasty peppers in it too? In any case, nothing was known of an aspic inflation.
Kaufland aspic for just under 32 euros: the customer is really surprised
One Kaufland-Customer made exactly that observation while shopping: She came across a sign on the shelf that said 31.96 euros was the price for 250 grams of jelly with pieces of pepper. The woman posted a photo Facebook, the authenticity of which has not been confirmed, but which also does not look like a fake at all. She addresses Kaufland directly: “You don’t mean that seriously, do you?” The lady lost her appetite for aspic – if it had been there before – properly.
The post was made on Saturday evening (May 21), and Kaufland responded on Monday morning. “Thanks for the tip, because pricing is important to us,” writes the social media team. “This is probably an error devil that has crept in. Were you able to speak directly to your colleagues on site? Alternatively, we would be happy to pass on your information again. To do this, please send us a direct message with your email address and branch.”
Other Facebook users also comment. “Bargain,” laughs a woman. “Insane, isn’t it?” Reacts the explorer. A user says that the almost 32 euros are rather the price per kilo. Another said it was the price for a whole box. On the Internet, aspic from this manufacturer – sometimes also with paprika – of this size costs around two euros. One customer even documented with a photo: “I just bought a 400 gram jar of this aspic from Kaufland for 1.99 euros.”

When asked under her post why she didn’t ask in the market, the Kaufland customer replies: “Yeah, if there had been a seller.” Other users immediately believe in a Kaufland breakdown. “Mistakes are human. But the one who put the sign up will not have been the brightest either,” writes one user. And the “sign discoverer” says: “But that must have seemed strange when you printed it, right?” Probably not. The price of 23.99 euros for a liter of juice at Rewe, on the other hand, is almost certainly real. (lin)
