$25 million lawsuit filed against Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin (64) could soon be asked to pay a lot. A $25 million lawsuit has been filed against the US actor (including “Mission Impossible”). The New York Post reports on this.

The claim for damages has nothing to do with the tragic fatality of October 21, 2021.

THAT’S WHAT IT’S ABOUT: The story behind the current allegations offers enough material for a Hollywood film of its own. On August 26, 2021, US Marine Rylee McCollum († 20) was killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan. Baldwin, reports the New York Post, reached out to the victim’s sister via Instagram and sent the family a check for $5,000.

In January 2022, things finally came to a head: Sister Roice McCollum posted a picture online to mark the first anniversary of the storming of the Capitol by a huge horde of government opponents.

The actor, a staunch opponent of ex-President Donald Trump, is said to have not only commented on the picture. According to the report, the 64-year-old also wrote a message to the victim’s sister: “When I sent you the money for your brother, out of genuine respect for his service to this country, I didn’t know that you were one of the rioters of WW6. January were.”

Baldwin then posted the picture on his Instagram account, which is followed by around 2.5 million people. According to the lawsuit, the “Departed” star is said to have mentioned Roice McCollum’s involvement in the riots. But McCollum claims she wasn’t at the Capitol that day.

That’s where the demand for $25 million in damages comes in. Because – according to the plaintiffs’ argument – the dead soldier’s sister then received masses of “hostile, aggressive and hateful messages”, as did other family members. They were accused of being Nazis and racists. According to the lawsuit “a nightmare”.

Literally, the script reads: “Alec Baldwin’s conduct was careless and reckless. He should have known that if he took the allegations he made against the plaintiffs to his millions of followers, he would harm the plaintiffs.”

The McCollums are now seeking a trial before a jury in upstate New York. It involves invasion of privacy, defamation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

This is the family’s second lawsuit against the actor. The first was dismissed by a judge from the state of Wyoming because she did not feel competent. Alec Baldwin lives in New York.
