It all started on Monday. A first child had to be picked up by his parents following what looked like a stomach flu. However, a few hours later, twenty children began to contract the same symptoms and mysteriously fell ill while he was in sea class in Blankenberge. Concretely, out of 72 children and 24 carers from two different schools, 34 participants showed symptoms.
“A first child fell ill last Monday, but it got a little worse, especially on Thursday. The supervisors then took the children to the emergency room, but no one was hospitalized, ”explains the director of the Sports Vlaanderen center.
Quickly, suspicions are turned towards the food in the building which lodges them. Except that, as pointed out by Sport Vlaanderen, the operator of the building, a food inspection had just taken place. The Federal Food Agency and the Care and Health Agency will have to determine by going to the site this Friday.
