A 42-year-old woman crashed in Giswil OW on Monday morning. She sustained fatal injuries.
The woman was with an attendant on the ascent from the Belief Pass to the sheep nose.
For unknown reasons it fell in the rocky terrain, it fell about 200 meters deep. The immediately alarmed Rega was only able to determine the death of the woman on site, as the cantonal police announced in Obwalden.
The freely chosen route to the sheep’s nose was a route that is often followed. However, it is not a signposted hiking trail.
The accident woman was considered an experienced mountain climber. The cantonal police and the public prosecutor are investigating why the accident occurred.
