ARD justifies personnel expenses
At the start of the CDU party conference, Merz caused a smile when he welcomed 58 editors from the public service broadcaster and announced that he wanted to deal with them “lovingly” – an allusion to the CDU’s reform plans.
When asked by BILD, ARD did not self-criticize the personnel costs. The party congress is an extremely important event “for national and regional political reporting”. Phoenix alone, the events and documentation channel from ARD and ZDF, would report live for around 13 hours on both days.
According to the accreditation list for the CDU party conference (located in BILD), they were registered there
• 15 editors from the ARD capital studio alone.
• ARD radio sends an editor
• Bayerischer Rundfunk, Deutschlandfunk and MDR had each registered two editors,
• NDR and Phoenix seven each,
• SWR television five,
• WDR three,
• NDR television and SWR one,
• 12 editors were on the list for ZDF.
There are also 139 technicians/cameramen.
