In April, a 17-year-old boy was tortured by a drug gang. According to Het Nieuwsblad, he was accused of having informed a rival gang of the location of 300 kg of cocaine with a market value of 15 million euros.
The torture session took place in a garage in Maldegem, East Flanders. The young man was then stabbed several times in the foot, his ear was cut off, as were the tendons in his hand.
