A 6.1 magnitude earthquake shakes Japan’s Ogasawara archipelago

One magnitude 6.1 earthquake on Ritcher’s open scale shook the Ogasawara islands this Tuesday, an archipelago located 1,000 kilometers south of Tokyo in the Pacific Ocean, without the authorities decreeing a tsunami alert. The earthquake took place at 06:09 local time (22:09 GMT), 70 kilometers deep, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), and authorities have reported no injuries or significant damage.

The earthquake was recorded on the island of Hahajima, one of the 30 that make up the Ogasawara archipelago, with an intensity of 5 higher on the Japanese seismic scale, 7 levels and focused on measuring the shaking on the surface.
