In Seoul, when a big fire broke out at a high school, the ‘first stage of response’ was issued in which all fire department personnel were dispatched.

Black smoke continues to rise between tall buildings in Yeouido, Seoul.

Citizens who went out to the Hangang Citizens Park for the holidays also looked at the sky in surprise at the rising smoke and sirens.

“I was sitting looking in that direction. But suddenly black smoke was just coming up. So I was so surprised that I said, “Oh, it’s a fire”…”

A fire broke out in the parking lot of Yeouido High School in Seoul around 5:40 pm today.

The fire started in the parking lot on the first floor of the school canteen building and quickly spread to the second and third floors.

The fire department issued the first stage of response in which all fire department personnel in the jurisdiction were dispatched, and the fire was extinguished around 6 pm.

The school was empty because it was a holiday, so there were no casualties.

The fire department is investigating the exact extent of the damage and the cause of the fire.

At around 10:30 am today, a village bus and a taxi collided in Choeup-dong, Busanjin-gu, Busan.

In the accident, 10 passengers, including passengers in their 80s, who were on the bus, complained of back pain and other problems and were treated at the hospital.

Amid dry air across the country, wildfires have continued.

At around 3:50 pm, a fire broke out in a mountain in Miryang-si, Gyeongnam, and was extinguished in 1 hour and 10 minutes.

At 1:40 a.m. earlier, a wildfire broke out in Anseong, Gyeonggi-do, and was extinguished in three hours, and there were also wildfires in Gyeongju and Muju.

The Korea Forest Service said that there are many wildfires caused by true stories of hikers in the spring, and urged people to be careful.
