A conservative outsider challenges Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban

The fronts for the next parliamentary elections in Hungary in 2022 have been clarified: On the one hand, the right-wing national head of government Viktor Orban will stand for his “Fidesz” party. And the united opposition surprisingly sends the outsider Peter Marki-Zay into the race. The 49-year-old, who was once a supporter of Orban, ultimately prevailed clearly against the social democrat Klara Dobrev in the internal opposition primary.
