A 36-year-old Pole was sentenced to 12 months in prison for fraud, after having exchanged the price of a robot vacuum cleaner with that of a dish drainer at the Carrefour in Hasselt. It’s probably the price difference, which is a little too striking, that gave it away: 399 euros for the robot, against… 1.29 euros for the drainer!
According to information from Belang Van Limburg, the facts date back to August 11, 2021. Unfortunately for the fraudster, it was a little too blatant. Also, a salesman was watching and noticed what he was doing.
The man did not provide an explanation in court. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, a fine of 800 euros and 282 euros in legal costs.
