Sydney: The first Kovid omicron infection was detected in Australia. Australian health officials say the Kovid Omikron strain was first discovered after examining two passengers who flew from South Africa to Sydney. ‘Two asymptomatic positive cases are in isolation. Both have been fully vaccinated, officials said.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has banned seven countries from seizing the new variant of the corona, Omikron, in several countries. Flights to seven African countries are banned in the wake of Omikron.
Flights to and from Malawi, Zambia, Madagascar, Angola, Seychelles, Mauritius and Comoros are banned. This was announced by the Saudi Interior Ministry. Saudi Arabia has previously banned services to and from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini and Lisotho. This brings the number of African countries banned by Saudi Arabia to 14. The UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait have also banned travelers from South African countries in the wake of Omikron.
Omikron has also been confirmed in Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic, according to recent reports. The incidence of the disease is also on the rise in South Africa. Omicron is reported to be a highly potent variant. The World Health Organization has made a similar assessment.
