Japanese authorities also confirmed that the missile had crossed the Japanese archipelago and landed in the Pacific Ocean. It is the first time in five years since 2017 that a missile launched by North Korea has passed through the Japanese archipelago.

Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno held an emergency press conference following the North Korean missile launch in the morning of the same day, and North Korea’s ballistic missile launch violates UN Security Council sanctions against North Korea.
