Météo-France has placed five departments – Finistère, Manche, Seine-maritime, Somme and Pas-de-Calais – on orange alert “Waves-submersion” from 3 p.m., Sunday November 15.
According to the meteorological organization, in a context of high tides, “The conjunction of particularly high sea levels and very strong waves require special attention”.
The winds amplify the waves on the English Channel
“The active disturbance associated with the depression shifts to the English Channel and then to the Bay of Biscay during the day. During the afternoon this Sunday, the southwesterly winds will strengthen in the English Channel. Also, they amplify the strong waves coming from the South-West on the English Channel ”, adds Météo-France.
The high tide coefficients are 107 Sunday morning, 109 Sunday evening and 109 Monday morning. The end of this orange vigilance is expected Monday at 3 am by forecasters.
