A young woman met through social media was tortured with a promise of marriage; induced to convert; Youth arrested

Kozhikode: Two youths have been arrested by the police in the case of taking a young woman from Kanyakumari whom she met through social media and taking her to different places with a promise of marriage. AK Nihad Shan (24) of Kolatara Cheruvannur Kotalada and his friend Muhammad Junaid (26) of Malappuram Vazhayoor Mangote were arrested by the police. The second accused Junaid was arrested from Malappuram on Sunday and the first accused Nihad was arrested from Kozhikode on Tuesday. On October 29, the young woman filed a complaint with the police, alleging that the young men took her to various places in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts.

The woman and Nihad Shan met through social media and fell in love. Accused Nihad Shan asked the young woman to convert her religion. After the young woman refused, he was forced to leave the relationship. But after she refused, the girl was informed through her friends that she had suffered serious injuries in the accident and had lost her memory and could not remember the complainant. When he called his friends and inquired about it, they said that this was true and that he did not remember anything.

Nihad Shan’s friend brought the woman to Perinthalmanna saying that she was being treated at Perinthalmanna Hospital with serious injuries. Then he lied and was taken to Coimbatore. But when the woman, who did not know Malayalam, began to see Tamil boards and was convinced that she was in Tamil Nadu, when she made a fuss, Junaid, the second accused, turned the vehicle around and told her to go back.

But when he reached Thenipalam at night, he was mistakenly told that the journey was difficult and took a room in a hotel in Kakancheri. There, the second accused Muhammad Junaid tried to molest the woman. Later it was realized that all this was a play by Nihad Shan with his friends.

The first accused, Nihad, switched off the old mobile phone and used around 12 new SIMs alternately, derailing the police investigation. After returning home, he hid in the house of a man living alone in Gothiswaram under the pretense of ministering to him. Nihad Shan was arrested from there. The suspect was arrested and produced in court and remanded. Junaid, the second accused, was remanded on Monday itself.

Nadakav Inspector PK. The accused were arrested by an investigation team led by Sub-Inspector SB Kailas Nath, Senior Civil Police Officers MV Srikanth, C Harish Kumar, M Sajeesh, Civil Police Officers PM Lenish, Babith Kurumannil and Shalini Cheriya Arikara.
