Former American gymnast coach John Geddert committed suicide just hours after being accused of sexual harassment and human trafficking today. The news of his death was announced by Michigan Court Attorney General Dana Nessel.
Sixty-three-year-old Geddert was a longtime collaborator of the US gymnastics physician Larry Nassar, who was convicted of sexual crimes in 2018 and is likely to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Gedderta, who was the head coach of the winning team at the London Olympics in 2012, has in the past accused about twenty of his former charges from Michigan of physical, verbal and sexual abuse. Today, he was charged with 12 crimes for this.
