Afida Turner’s tribute to the death of her ex-mother-in-law Tina
DEATH – « She loved France so much! Afida Turner paid tribute to her mother-in-law, rock icon Tina Turner, who passed away on Wednesday, May 24. The singer left at the age of 83 in her house in Switzerland “following a long illness”, can we read in the press release relayed by Sky News.
Daughter-in-law of the singer from 2007 to 2017 by marrying her son Ronnie, Afida Turner posted a tribute message on her Instagram account.
“I was just talking about you 5 minutes ago, before it happened, in Nice. I know how much she loved the south of France. Rest in peace, my mother-in-law, with Craig and Ronnie”she wrote under a photo of the two of them.
Craig and Ronnie, the singer’s two younger sons, both died, the first in 2018 by suicide and the second in 2022 from cancer.
Born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939 in Tennessee (southern United States), Tina Turner made her debut at age 16 with the blues band « Kings of Rythm » of the one who will be her husband until 1978: Ike Turner.
It is with him and « The Ike and Tina Turner Revue » that the singer will begin to enjoy some fame by becoming one of the most popular black groups in the United States in the 1960s.
