After pressure from two board members: Chairman has stopped immediately

QUEEN’S GROVE:On Sunday, Nordjyske was able to say that Dronninglund Fjernvarme is not on the Energy Agency’s list of heating plants that give their consumers the right to get help with the heating bill.

Therefore, a group of citizens has decided to file a lawsuit against the board of Dronninglund Fjernvarme for not having ensured that the heating plant was on the Danish Energy Agency’s list in the spring of 2022.

On Sunday, the heating plant’s chairman, Svend B. Bøgh, chose to inform the board of his resignation as chairman.

So says lawyer Søren Bergenser, who represents Svend B. Bøgh and the board of Dronninglund Fjernvarmeværk, which sat until the general meeting in 2022.

– In short, it is because Svend could no longer vouch for being a member of the board. The reason is that he experienced pressure on him and his person to explain himself in a way that he did not experience the reality of what had happened, says Søren Bergenser on behalf of Svend B. Bøgh.

Is it in relation to the problem that has been around the heat check?

– Yes it is. He has felt that he was pressured from elsewhere on the board to present the case in a way that he did not think it had gone. Therefore, he no longer wanted to be a member of the board. He sort of had a wish to continue, even though the case was pending, but he could not vouch for this, explains the lawyer.

Submitted written resignation

It is precisely because of a few people on the board that Svend B. Bøgh has chosen to stop as chairman.

– Yes, a few other people on the board who thought that the history of the case should be a little different than Svend remembered and looked at the case. He would not participate in that, says Søren Bergenser.

He therefore handed in a written resignation and had a wish and an expectation that an explanation about the background appeared on the district heating plant’s website. The remaining board did not want that.

– The last part was not what was decisive, because by then Svend had made up his mind. But overall, the explanation is that there is no agreement on how they think the process went around the heat check, and that someone thought he should remember differently than what he thought he remembered, says Søren Bergenser.

– Svend is upset that they would not bring up the background for his resignation. This is actually also why he now wants to speak in isolation about this. He is upset about the matter, but that someone will sue him (in relation to the heat check, ed.), he is settled with. The trigger is that he does not think he can vouch for the way it was handled internally in relation to history. In other words, he was pressured to remember differently.

And there are a few people on the board who thought he should remember differently?

– Yes, it’s exactly a couple of people.

Svend B. Bøgh is himself part of the area that receives heat from Dronninglund Fjernvarme.

– So, of course, it’s equally tiresome when you are exposed to this. And when you live and have family in the area, it’s a tough job, notes Søren Bergesen and adds:

– Being threatened with a liability because there is an insurance, Svend will not participate in that.

New chairman of the board

Carsten Møller Nielsen from the board of Dronninglund Fjernvarme says that the board held a meeting on Monday afternoon. Here, a new constitution was made as a result of the chairman’s resignation with immediate effect.

– There aren’t that many people to take off. It is a callous act to call an extraordinary general meeting when an ordinary meeting is to be held immediately afterwards. So we agreed to wait to fill the board positions until the general meeting on 10 May, he says.

He himself is now chairman of the board.

– Yes, it was left to me to re-enter the chairmanship. I have been chairman for over 30 years, but left in 2018, explains Carsten Møller Nielsen, who rejoined the board in 2022.

In relation to Svend B. Bøgh’s statements via his lawyer about feeling pressured to present things differently in relation to the heat check case, he says:

– It is not correct, it must stand for his remark.

How do you relate to the fact that he has felt pressured?

– We can’t do anything but take note of it. That’s how it is.

You don’t see it that way?

– No, we don’t.

Is it the entire board?

– Now it is only aimed at two people. So those are the two people. I can only speak for myself and I can say that I can take note. And I can’t recognize it.

So you are one of the people?

– I am probably one of the people. It is I who raised the matter (with the heat check, ed.) in the board, says Carsten Møller Nielsen.
