Al-Marsad newspaper: “Umm Al-Qura” newspaper announced, in its new issue today, Friday, the Cabinet’s approval to reduce the upper limit for the models of all heavy transport trucks designated for transporting goods (trailers, trailers and semi-trailers) whose total weight exceeds (3.5) tons, imported into the Kingdom. , from (10) years to (5) years from the year of manufacture, provided that the model is calculated from the beginning of January of the year of manufacture, in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Interior (General Traffic Department).
The Official Gazette added that the Cabinet’s decision stipulated the need to study the impact of implementing the decision on the trucking market – in partnership with: (The Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Interior (General Traffic Department), the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Authority, and the Zakat Authority Tax and Customs, the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency, and the Ministerial Committee for Traffic Safety) – after a year from the date of its implementation, addressing the obstacles, if any, and raising to the lofty position what is required to be lifted.
And she added that the government’s decision stipulated the need to “implement all conditions and requirements for the safety of trucks before they are released and enter the Kingdom’s markets, and to ensure their compliance with the relevant specifications and technical regulations issued by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, in coordination with: the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Authority, and the Zakat and Tax Authority and customs.”
Date of application of the decision
Umm Al-Qura indicated that the decision to reduce the upper limit of heavy transport truck models will be implemented after 6 months from the date of its issuance, as the aforementioned reduction and the date of its implementation will be announced through various media – in coordination with the concerned authorities.
