AIFF Administration to Supreme Court Committee; Praful Patel out | Sports | Deshabhimani

New Delhi
The Supreme Court has sacked Praful Patel, who continues to head the Indian Football Federation (AIFF) after his term expires. The Patel-led governing council was also eliminated. The administration of the federation was handed over to a three-member ad hoc committee appointed by the court. The panel, headed by former Supreme Court Judge AR Dave, includes former Election Commissioner SV Qureshi and former Indian football team captain Bhaskar Ganguly. This committee oversees the day-to-day affairs of the Federation. The Constitutional Committee of the Federation will renew. Work will also be done to select new members.

Praful Patel has been at the helm for the last 13 years. His term ended in December, but he remained in office without holding an election. An appeal was lodged by the Delhi Football Club against Patel. National sports regulations are also against it. But 14 months after his term ended, Patel did not step down.
