Air France-KLM and IndiGo: sharing takes off in India

The codeshare agreement between the group Air France-KLM and the airline low cost IndiGo is now effective, offering the first 30 new destinations in Inde and the second 120 destinations in Europe and 50 destinations on the American continent.

Following the lifting of travel restrictions in India and the approval of the Indian government, the Franco-Dutch group and the Indian budget flight specialist announced on May 12, 2022 the establishment of the sharing agreement announced codes last december.

Thanks to this new partnership, Air France and KLM customers will eventually have access to 30 new destinations in India, “with many possible round-trip combinations, both for personal and business travel”. Air France, KLM and IndiGo flights can be combined on a single reservation and members of the loyalty program Flying Blue “will be able to earn miles on all the routes covered by this agreement”. From Paris-CDG et Amsterdam-SchipholAir France and KLM already serve four airports in India: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.

IndiGo customers traveling “from the Indian provinces” will have access to the global network of Air France and KLM, with more than 300 destinations, including 120 in Europe and fifty on the American continent. These codeshare flights are now available for booking on airfrance.com, klm.com and indigo.com “on certain destinations. They will be extended to all 30 planned destinations by the summer”.

Remember that the two members of the alliance SkyTeam no longer had a partner in India since the cessation of operations in April 2019 of Jet Airways ; however, she hopes take off again by the end of the year.

With a fleet of more than 250 Airbus single-aisle aircraft, including 190 A320neo and A321neo (and more than 270 awaiting delivery), IndiGo serves more than 1,000 daily flights to 70 destinations in India and 24 internationally; it already shares its codes with American Airlines, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines. The Franco-Dutch group offers its customers a very extensive global network covering 300 destinations thanks to Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and the low cost Transavia. It operates with its partners Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic the largest transatlantic joint venture, with more than 340 daily flights in 2019.
