A spokesman for the fire department confirmed the death of the two pilots, identified as Michael S., 42, and Dieter G., 72, during a training session for the so-called “mirror flight”, an exercise where one aircraft flies parallel to the second. The pair had reportedly been flying in formations for years, even winning the world classic aerobatics championship title in 2019.
