Alappuzha: Five arrested in SDPI leader Shan murder case arrested Police arrested five people directly involved in the case yesterday. Atul, Jishnu, Abhimanyu, Sanand and Vishnu were arrested. This is the first time that police have arrested a person directly involved in a murder.
So far, 13 accused have been arrested in the case, ADGP Vijay Sakhar said. ADGP Vijay Sakhar said that a high level conspiracy in the murder would be exposed. The investigation team is confident that the other accused will not be caught soon.
The car of the accused was found near the Kanichukulangara temple. Shaan, an SDPI activist, was attacked in Mannancherry, Alappuzha. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a car carrying Shawn.
Meanwhile, the probe into the murder of BJP leader Ranjit is in progress. The probe has been extended to Tamil Nadu on suspicion that the accused had entered Tamil Nadu. Based on the preliminary investigations, it was decided to conduct an investigation in Tamil Nadu as well. Ranjith was killed within hours of Shawn being killed. He was hacked to death by a mob at around 6.30am on Sunday.
