MEXICO CITY (apro) .- Medical assistance and scientific research have been key elements in responding to the global challenges posed by the covid-19 pandemic, Health Secretary Jorge Alcocer assured today.
At the head of the ceremony on Tuesday for the 75th anniversary of the National Institute of Sciences and Nutrition “Salvador Zubirán” (INCMNSZ), Alcocer stressed that in Mexico this hospital has been an example of quality medical care and development in scientific research to understand the bases pathophysiology of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
He also highlighted the productivity of the INCMNSZ, since its research staff published 413 articles last year, and so far this year they have already had 166 publications, of which 34 are related to the study of covid-19.
The federal official pointed out that when addressing health problems, the epidemiological and demographic transitions that characterize each population must be considered.
Finally, he mentioned the challenges that still face Mexico: improving health services, increasing and renewing the infrastructure in medical institutions, improving health education and the quality of life of the population.
