De Minaur beat Ilya Ivashka 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 in the semi-finals to regain a set deficit against Adrian Mannarino in the quarter-finals.
The Australian had to fend off two breakballs at the beginning of the second set, also at the start of the decisive round. In the end, however, he clearly dominated the match.
He now has a match record of 8:1 in the 250 tournament, in 2019 he won the final against Tayor Fritz.
Jenson Brooksby also beats Tiafoe
This time it’s against a local hero – Jenson Brooksby. On the way to the final, he had beaten Atlanta record winner John Isner (6 titles!) in the quarterfinals, and in the semifinals he beat Frances Tiafoe 6:1, 6:4.
He caught fire late and got his first break chance in the final game after two match balls were saved. But Brooksby held out and eventually used his sixth match point to win.
The 21-year-old will play his third final on the ATP tour, having lost the two previous ones (Newport in 2021, Dallas in 2022). De Minaur could win his sixth ATP title with a win, his first since the Eastbourne tournament last year.
