All clear for Nakagami, Rins with broken wrist / MotoGP

After the crash at the start of the MotoGP race on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the diagnoses are now available: Takaaki Nakagami (Honda) got off relatively lightly, Alex Rins (Suzuki) broke his triangular leg.

Takaaki Nakagami took care of it immediately at the beginning of the Catalunya GP for a moment of shock when he was the trigger for a serious crash in the first corner: “Taka”, who had only been 12th on the grid, lost control of the front wheel and cleared Ducati star Pecco Bagnaia and Suzuki factory rider Alex Rins .

Bagnaia was unharmed. Nakagami, whose helmet crashed into the rear wheel of Pecco’s factory Ducati, was taken to the medical center and then to the Hospital General de Catalunya for further tests. Fortunately, he escaped without serious head injuries, but complained of pain in his right shoulder. Now his LCR Honda Idemitsu team said a full body scan revealed no broken bones.

The 30-year-old Japanese man will spend the night in hospital for observation. He is expected to be released on Monday but will most certainly miss the upcoming test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Rins is also injured, at least for the Monday test: investigations at the “Hospital Universitari Dexeus” in Barcelona confirmed the suspicion of a wrist fracture, which Rins himself had uttered that afternoon. The left triangular bone, one of the carpal bones, is broken. An MRI ruled out ligament injuries.

The wrist will now be immobilized for ten days and treated with electromagnetic therapy. Then a further investigation will be carried out with regard to the Sachsenring GP, said Dr. Xavier Mir as a schedule.

The home GP in Montmeló brought Rins no luck again, after he broke his spoke during the track inspection on Thursday last year. At that time he crashed into a vehicle on his racing bike because he was distracted by his smartphone.
