Shock scene in Crans-Montana VS! The Swiss fans cheer, Lara Gut-Behrami leads Corinne Suter. A happy day – until Austrian Elisabeth Reisinger (23) starts.
The young Austrian with the starting number 26 still copes well with the first corners, only 0.29 seconds back in the first split. But on the left turn, where Michelle Gisin crashed before, Reisinger cries out of nowhere.
The TV pictures show a light blow, but no fall, which would indicate a serious injury. The race is over for them, like before for Gisin. But unlike the Swiss, Reisinger no longer gets up.
The 23-year-old drives a few meters further, then falls and slips into the safety net at the edge of the slope without resistance. She screams as she slides. There are screams that go through your legs and legs and suggest that something bad is going on: Something is not quite right here.
The Austrian wags her arms in the safety net. The race is paused for more than 20 minutes. Lara Gut-Behrami is stunned on the leader throne.
Meanwhile, Reisinger is treated on the spot. But even the hurried paramedics can’t do anything. Reisinger is flown to the hospital by helicopter.
Nothing is known about the state of health of the Austrian.
So… what DID happen? There does not seem to be any coverage on her injury
