[Archyde.com]-Amazon.com announced on the 13th that it will start delivery by drone (unmanned aerial vehicle) in Lockeford, California by the end of the year.
This is the first time the company has delivered drones to the general public in the United States. Wal-Mart, UPS, FedEx and others have so far implemented trial delivery and specific purpose programs.
Amazon said it is in talks with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and city officials on licensing.
The drone used by the company will be able to fly out of sight and will deliver the goods to the customer’s yard in Rockford.
