The Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, reported that the rapid COVID test that was carried out after being with the president last Friday at an event in Nuevo León, was negative.
“This Sunday I did the rapid test and it came out negative, the results of the PCR test are delivered to me between today and tomorrow, as soon as I receive them I will announce the result,” said Sánchez Cordero.
In the morning press conference, which will be led by the official until the president recovers from COVID, he said that López Obrador continues with mild symptoms of the disease and in “full exercise of his functions as president.”
The head of Segob added that the president is isolated in the National Palace, as is his family.
According to Sánchez Cordero, Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, the president’s wife, tested negative for the COVID test.
“We can say with all sincerity and frankness that (the president) is well, strong and attentive to all public affairs (…) he meets his family in the National Palace with all the distancing measures,” he said.

The federal official added that the president’s treatment and care is in charge of the federal Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer.
This Sunday, President López Obrador announced that he tested positive for COVID-19 and that he has mild symptoms.
Since last Friday, the president held various meetings with various members of his cabinet, and traveled to two states: Nuevo León and San Luis.
Some of the members of the cabinet who met with the president these days are: the foreign minister, Marcelo Ebrard, the Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, the Secretary of Economy, Tatiana Clouthier, and the heads of the Secretary of the Navy, José Rafael Ojeda, from the Secretariat of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, and the commander of the National Guard, Luis Rodríguez Bucio.
As well as the former head of the presidential office, Alfonso Romo, the governor of Nuevo León, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, and the governor of San Luis Potosí, Juan Manuel Carreras López.
Regarding these characters, Olga Sánchez Cordero said that surely everyone is following the security protocols to avoid a chain of infections.
