Due to the less warm weather and the end of the tourist high season, it is now probably easier to keep 1.5 meters away in the busiest places, according to the Amsterdam-Amstelland safety region. The municipality continues to monitor it and, if necessary, takes “information-driven and risk-oriented” measures.
The duty to mask masks in those busy places was introduced at the beginning of August. Many entrepreneurs objected, because consumers indicated in surveys that they would shop less. The security region has heard these objections. “We also hear from some Amsterdammers and visitors that they are concerned about their health in busy places. We take these signals into account in the decision-making after the evaluation of the experiment. ”
The evaluation also looks at whether wearing a mouth mask has resulted in behavioral change. The evaluation of the mouth cap experiment is expected in the course of September, reports Rotterdam.
In Amsterdam, the obligation will still apply for a few days in the Red Light District, Kalverstraat and Albert Cuypmarkt, among others. In Rotterdam, it applies in parts of the center such as the Meent and the Lijnbaan, in the markets of the Binnenrotte, Grote Visserijstraat and Afrikaandermarkt and in the Zuidplein and Alexandrium shopping centers. People who do not wear a mouth mask in those designated places therefore run the risk of a fine of 95 euros for a few days.
