Amy Schumer jumps from the comedy to the kitchen by testing a new cooking series for Food Network.
Discovery’s own cable network will present a series with eight episodes with the working title “Amy Schumer learns to cook”. The show will show Schumer and her husband, professional chef Chris Fischer, in 30-minute self-shots, in which the couple cooks dishes while being isolated from the coronavirus pandemic.

Fischer mainly cooks with fresh farm ingredients, while Schumer mixes cocktails.
“Amy and Chris will have an unprecedented look at their lives when they are quarantined in their home,” Courtney White, president of Food Network, said in a statement. “Amy has boundless humor and Chris’ culinary skills show viewers how to navigate life at home and make the most of these turbulent times with a few good laughs and good food.”
“Amy Schumer is learning to cook” is expected to appear in spring this year. The network says the duo will try culinary topics like tacos, pasta night, tidying up the fridge, and more.
During the pandemic, Food Network relied on marathons from favorite shows like “Chopped”, “Beat Bobby Flay” and “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” as well as a handful of new premieres. And while Schumer may not be best known for her kitchen skills, other Discovery stores that were previously owned by Scripps Networks have long been ahead of the game by bringing celebrities with home arts that may not be their strengths. Over the years, HGTV and DIY have sent Jennie Garth, Rev Run, William Shatner, Mr. T, and Vanilla Ice into remodeling projects.
“Chris and I are very excited to be doing this food network project that combines our two passions – for Chris it’s cooking and for me eating,” said Schumer in a statement, being able to have an entertaining and informative experience with the Viewers to share. And it is more important than ever to take care of each other, so Chris and I will make donations to charity – the Immokalee Workers’ Coalition Fair Food Program and select domestic violence organizations. “
